McNabb Lake

This one is a scene on County Road 170 near the entrance to McNabb Lake north of Shallow Lake. Years ago the field behind was flooded to create the lake with a dam. Apparently it backfired or they say, thus flooding the other area close to the main road. Over the years I watched the trees drown. It must have been a magnificent canopy over the road but now in that area especially this year due to low water level the stumps have appeared more prominently.

The painting began last year but didn’t have a “real theme” to make it more interesting. Today, all I thought of was the residential school system and how it horrifically failed.

My mind always wanders when I paint ..... always thinking. Today, paying homage to the 215...indigenous children.. 😢
